Slide Scanning Service

Slide Transfer Service to DVD, USB stick, or Hard Drive

The slides are digitized using special CCD scanners with a standard resolution of approximately 4800x3200 pixels and with 48-bit color depth, allowing you to print the images in oversized formats if desired.

We leave nothing to chance. Therefore, all images are checked by a professional after digitization, and if necessary, cropped and corrected.

The digitized images provide a perfect basis for viewing them on a computer and TV, for editing, and/or for creating photo books/gifts.

Start Estimate

35mm Slide Scanning 70 ct./slide

Each 35mm slide image is scanned at a very high resolution (4800 by 3200 pixels) -- archival image quality. (RGB Color System)

Either count your individual slides or just provide a rough estimate. We'll have an exact count once all have been digitized. We base your invoice on that total count.

Please enter number of slides to digitize

We can scan all types of slides (glass, aluminum, cardboard, and plastic) and sizes (24x24, 24x36, and custom formats).

Photograph Scanning90 ct./print

Maximum scan size: 21 by 30 cm

Photographs are scanned at 600 DPI (300 DPI is considered standard printing resolution.) If your photographs are small, a higher resolution scanning is required for proper enlarged printing. Please contact us if you prefer scanning at higher resolutions. We can scan up to 4800 DPI at 48-bit. Scanning at the highest resolution takes approx. 30 minutes per photograph and produces enormous files!

Estimated image count

Either count your individual photos or just provide a rough estimate. We'll have an exact count once all have been digitized. We base your invoice on that total count.

35mm Negative Scanning90 ct./image

You will receive a positive image from your negative. Note: One negative strip usually holds 4 images.

Estimated image count

We can digitize negative strips of all kinds. In order to scan them cleanly, we need to remove the paper strips. We do this for free.

Medium Format ScanningCHF 2.50/image

Size usually measures 6 by 4 cm, or 6 by 9 cm

Estimated image count

In medium formats, we do not differentiate based on their size (4x4, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, etc.). We select a resolution so that the output size is approximately 6500x6500 dpi. You are welcome to also provide us with your specific size, so we can scan your images at your desired size.

Some customers prefer to simply send us their material and have us do up their estimate for them. We're happy to do that and will call you once we receive your precious memories to determine how to best serve you!

Commonly asked questions:

What are your business hours?
We are generally open Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 17:30. If our opening hours are inconvenient for you, please feel free to contact us; we are very flexible.
What is the best way to ship my film to you?

You can send us your material in a well-padded box via mail or another parcel service. Simply make sure to keep the shipping receipt until we have confirmed the receipt of your package via email. Should there be any problems with your package, you would still have the receipt with the tracking number at hand to determine where the package might be stuck.

However, we must say that we have not had to complain about any lost packages for nearly 20 years, and everything has always arrived, even if it sometimes took a little longer.

What is the turnaround time on your orders?

It’s easy to find out. From this page, you are 1 or 2 clicks away from seeing your "Estimated Completion Date." As soon as you finish your free online Estimate, it shows you the ESTIMATED completion date. Sometimes we beat that date, but if we find we might go past that date, we will contact you.

NOTE: Our turn-around time varies based on how much work we already have "in-house" at the time your order is placed. (1 - 6 weeks is our usual)

What if I am wrong in calculating my Estimate?

We base our invoice on the total minutes of your transferred footage. For slides or images, it is based on the actual number of images. Therefore, it is only after the transfer is completed that we will know the total cost of your order. We then notify you via email, and that's when you pay for your order.

If you have under-estimated your total footage (or slides), your invoice will be a bit more, and if you have over-estimated, then the cost will be a bit less.

I inherited a lot of slides from my father, some very old, framed in glass, and I also have many slides from my younger years, from my own family. I only want to digitize a small part, the most meaningful ones for our descendants and for my biography. Buying a device seemed too risky to me, and many online providers seemed untrustworthy. FilmFix made the best and most serious impression on me ... and I was not disappointed! Good quality at a reasonable price. Very good! Also very important: T... (read more)

Friendly, professional, attentive to special requests; simply all-around good. I'm practically seeing my old normal-8 and super-8 films (Africa in the 1950s) for the first time in good quality. Around 2000 slides (various formats, from 1947 to today) in better quality than with my projector on the screen, just "flipping through" them on the monitor is fantastic. Many thanks to HOBI's.
